Fast growing and well suited to medium to high rainfall areas, it produces substantial leafy growth followed by attractive white flowers.

As a legume, Murringo forms a symbiotic relationship with beneficial soil bacteria, fixing atmospheric nitrogen through its root nodules. Its strong growth and substantial biomass make it useful for building organic matter, improving soil fertility and incorporating into crop rotations.

The protein-rich seed is widely used for livestock feed and can also be processed for human consumption, including milling into flour and producing flakes and other lupin-based foods. Only appropriately processed low-alkaloid lupin seed should be consumed.

Murringo will cross-pollinate with other Lupinus albus varieties.
