Popular for juicing, smoothies and fresh wheatgrass-style shots, it has a mild flavour and is easy to grow indoors or outdoors in shallow trays. The young shoots are naturally rich in chlorophyll and are traditionally enjoyed as a fresh addition to a healthy diet. For the best results, grow during the cooler months, as germination and growth are reduced in hot weather.

Approximately 30 seeds per gram

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: April to August
Subtropics: March to September
Mild climates: Autumn to spring
Cold climates: Autumn to spring

Planting / Sowing

Sow seed densely over a shallow tray of quality seed-raising mix and cover lightly with a thin layer of growing medium. Place in a bright position out of harsh direct sun and harvest with scissors once the shoots reach 10–15 cm tall, usually in 10–14 days. Suitable for repeated sowings throughout the cooler months.

Not available for WA

Not available for Tas

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0736/4866/8890/files/download_0bef837f-befb-44d2-808a-f28ccdcd63f6.jpg?v=1754016744
