Traditionally valued as a fresh-eating and pickling onion, it is particularly good harvested young, when the bulbs are tender and delicately flavoured.

Quick to mature compared with many storage onions, White Queen is excellent for salads, antipasto, pickling and cooking. It is best enjoyed fresh rather than relied upon for long-term storage.

Onions have been cultivated since ancient times and are thought to have originated in Central or Southwest Asia.
