Growing to approximately 70 cm tall, the slender stems create a light, graceful display through late winter and spring.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA long-time cottage garden favourite, Shirley Poppies are excellent for mass planting, wildflower gardens and informal borders. The flowers can also be used for cutting, while blooms left in the garden provide pollen for bees and other pollinating insects.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePlants perform best in a warm, sunny position with average, well-drained soil and a neutral pH. Pinching out early buds can encourage bushier, more strongly branched plants, while removing finished flowers helps prolong the flowering season.
