Naturally occurring in coastal wetland areas of New South Wales and Queensland, this attractive evergreen shrub or small tree has long been valued for the aromatic oil contained within its leaves. Tea tree oil is widely used in shampoos, creams, soaps, cosmetics and skincare products and has a long history of traditional use. The plant produces masses of creamy white bottlebrush-like flowers that attract bees and other beneficial insects.

Tea Tree thrives in moist conditions and is particularly well suited to dam margins, rain gardens, wetter areas of the landscape and sites similar to those favoured by Weeping Bottlebrush (Callistemon viminalis).
