Italian heirloom radicchio type chicory named for town in Northern Italy. This variety forms attractive, tightly woven, round heads. The leaves feature a unique veining pattern with wine-red flecks on a light green background, gradually transitioning to buttery yellow towards the core. The red flecking intensifies near the centre, creating a beautiful, layered effect. With a mild bitterness and a tender, crisp texture similar to iceberg lettuce, this chicory offers a delicate crunch that makes it a versatile addition to fresh salads or light sautés. Keep soil consistently moist to avoid water stress, as uneven watering can lead to early bolting and increase leaf bitterness. Does well in low temps. Good to sow every 2-3 weeks for successive harvesting.
