A nutritious leafy green vegetable great for warmer areas. Also called Red Stripe Leaf or Tampala, this Chinese spinach has attractive green leaves with a red splash through the centre. Fast growing and successive plantings do best. Harvest the whole plant so as to avoid bitter and tough older plants. Young plants have a sweet and tangy flavour and should be cooked to remove oxalates and nitrates.
