This species grows in all states. A familiar site in large areas of inland Australia, fast growing, used as a stock fodder, attracts bees and insects. Used as a leafy vegetable cooked with meat and fish dishes, in stuffing and as a dried herb or sprinkle. Salty leaves rich in protein, antioxidants and minerals. Tolerates drought, sandy soils and salt. Grows 2-3m and can be trimmed as a hedge. Sow all year round.
