Crookneck Early Yellow Seeds

This crookneck zucchini (also known as summer squash) has buttery skin that deepens to a golden yellow with age. It's best harvested when small, up to 20cm, and is renowned for its rich flavour and generous fruiting. One of the earliest squash varieties in the USA, dating back to the early 1800s.

Cucurbita pepo

Quick growing, popular vegetable. Likes rich well drained soil, though not heavily fertilised, add lime to obtain pH of 6.5. Keep moist. Can sow indoors 5 weeks before planting, take care not to damage roots. For seed saving it is best to grow only one variety within 2km. Pick whilst still small at about 15cm. Sow after frost or indoors 5 weeks before transplanting.
