Starts out looking like Red Russian Kale but as it matures leaves get finer and more feathery and looks more like Mizuna. It is Kale for people who don't like Kale. It has a mild mustardy flavour and when cooked it is milder and tender, use baby leaves in salads.
Brassica oleracea var. acephala
A primitive vegetable from the Mediterranean area. High in vitamin A, young leaves used like lettuce, older leaves cooked, like cabbage. Likes well drained soil with near neutral pH and sunny spot. Keep well watered. Mature plants tolerate frost. Sow late summer, autumn. Frost hardy.
