Tragopogon porrifolius

Delicious white fleshed root crop, cultivate as for carrots and parsnips, though can be transplanted, use root like parsnip fried or boiled, new winter shoots give a nice flavour to salads, can over winter, young plants withstand light frost, mature plants withstand heavy frost. Roots store well at low temperatures and high humidity. Sow autumn and spring in cold climates. 110-180 days.
