Brassica oleracea var. gemmifera
Developed around Brussels in 1500's. Source of vitamins A and C, iron, calcium and folic acid. Harvests over 8 to 10 weeks. Prefers a near neutral soil, trim lower leaves to allow sprouts to develop. Flavour improves with frost, stores well at high humidity and low temperatures and suited to freezing. Sow summer, autumn.
