Garlic

Glenlarge (Early Purple) Seeds

(Allium sativum)

Certified Organic Seed garlic is perfect for planting, but equally wonderful for using in the kitchen.
Glenlarge is a softneck, non-bolting garlic cultivar from the Subtropical Group, developed in Australia for its adaptability to warmer climates. The bulbs are teardrop-shaped, measuring 6–7 cm, with white skins featuring purple blotches. Each bulb contains 6–12 medium-sized, tall, slender cloves with pale red to pink or tan skins, more intensely coloured at the base. Glenlarge offers a moderately hot, sweet, Creole-like flavour when raw, which becomes pleasantly aromatic when sautéed. The plants are small, slender, and upright, reaching about 60 cm in height, with yellow-green leaves. They mature very early 5.5-6 months. While scapes are absent, some plants may produce 1–3 pink/purple bulbils within the pseudostem. Glenlarge thrives in most Australian garlic-growing regions, particularly in warmer areas like Queensland and Northern New South Wales, but is less suited to cold, damp climates. May be planted March and again October.

Garlic

Allium sativum

Native to central Asia and used for thousands of years, Garlic is a flavourful and versatile food that offers a range of health benefits and is widely used in cooking and traditional medicine. It also contains compounds such as allicin which has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Organic garlic is considered a healthier and more sustainable option compared to conventional garlic, as it is free from harmful chemicals and grown in a way that supports soil health and biodiversity. Many people prefer the taste of organic garlic as it has a stronger and more flavourful taste.
