Agastache rugosa

An easy-to-grow and attractive perennial from the mint family, anise hyssop forms clumps of fresh green leaves topped with upright spikes of purple blue flowers. Young leaves have a distinct liquorice aroma and flavour and can be used fresh in teas, salads, or lightly cooked in stir fries. Highly attractive to bees and beneficial insects, it is drought tolerant once established and readily self-sows in suitable conditions.

Anise hyssop has a long history of medicinal use as an uplifting and strengthening herb. The aerial parts are traditionally used to support the respiratory system, particularly in coughs and colds, and are valued for their antibacterial, antiviral, and antioxidant properties. It is also used externally as a poultice for burns, bites, and wounds, and is considered a soothing expectorant helpful for clearing excess mucous.

Approximately 450 seeds per packet

Planting / Sowing
Sow seed shallowly into well drained soil after the risk of frost has passed. Best grown in full sun to semi shade, anise hyssop tolerates a range of conditions provided drainage is good. Keep soil lightly moist during establishment, then water only during extended dry periods. Space plants 30 to 40 cm apart.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
