A short, fast-growing tropical vine with narrow leaves, commonly known as water spinach, entsai or kangkong. Well suited to hot, humid, and consistently moist conditions, and traditionally grown along waterways, swamps, or in saturated garden beds. Young shoots are eaten raw or lightly cooked, while older stems are best cooked in stir-fries and broths.

Thrives in warm weather and grows best when temperatures remain above 15°C.
