Limonium latifolium
Fairy Mix is an elegant perennial Statice producing airy sprays of tiny lavender-blue flowers held on fine, branching stems above a low rosette of foliage. The delicate clouds of flowers create a soft, misty effect in garden beds and add beautiful texture amongst larger flowering plants.
Particularly valued by florists, Limonium latifolium is an excellent cut and dried flower. The highly branched stems work beautifully as a light filler in bouquets and arrangements, while the flowers retain their form and colour remarkably well when dried.
Hardy and relatively low maintenance once established, plants prefer full sun and free-draining soil and develop good tolerance to dry conditions. Excellent for cottage gardens, perennial borders, cutting gardens and areas with sandy or relatively poor soils.
When to Plant (Australia)
Tropics: Autumn to winter in cooler locations
Subtropics: Autumn to spring
Mild climates: Autumn and spring
Cold climates: Spring after frost
Planting / Sowing
Sow into trays or pots, covering seed only lightly with seed-raising mix. Keep moist during germination but avoid waterlogging.
Transplant once seedlings are well established, spacing approximately 30–40 cm apart in full sun and well-drained soil. For dried flowers, harvest stems when most of the small flowers have opened and hang upside down in a dry, well-ventilated position.
Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
Limonium sinuatum
Pacific Mixed is a beautiful Statice producing an abundance of papery flowers in a soft mixture of white, apricot, pink and mauve. Growing approximately 60–70 cm tall, the strong, upright plants produce generous flowering stems over a long season.
A favourite for cutting and drying, Statice has an exceptional vase life and retains its colour and form beautifully when dried. The branching flower stems add colour and texture to fresh bouquets, everlasting arrangements and wreaths, making this an excellent variety for dedicated cutting gardens as well as cottage gardens and borders.
Hardy and easy to grow, Pacific Mixed performs best in full sun and well-drained soil. Once established, plants tolerate relatively dry conditions and regular picking encourages continued flower production.
Seed count: approximately 1,400 seeds/g
Approximately 150 seeds per packet
