Tanacetum parthenium
Feverfew is a charming perennial herb that produces masses of small, daisy-like flowers with crisp white petals and bright yellow centres from late spring through summer. Growing to around 60â90 cm tall, it brings colour and texture to cottage gardens, borders and herb gardens while attracting bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects.
Traditionally cultivated for centuries as a medicinal herb, Feverfew has long been associated with supporting general wellbeing, particularly in traditional European herbal practice. Today it is also valued as an ornamental plant, producing an abundance of long-lasting blooms that are excellent for cutting and drying. Easy to grow and drought tolerant once established, it readily self-seeds under favourable conditions.
Approximately 7,500 seeds per gram
Approximately 1,400 seeds per packet
When to Plant (Australia)
Tropics: April to July
Subtropics: March to May and August to October
Mild climates: March to May and September to November
Cold climates: September to November
Planting / Sowing
Surface sow or lightly press seed into a fine seed-raising mix without covering, as light assists germination. Keep evenly moist and maintain temperatures of 18â22°C until seedlings emerge. Transplant into a sunny position with well-drained soil, spacing plants 30â40 cm apart. Remove spent flowers to encourage continued blooming or leave some to set seed for natural self-sowing.
Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
Dianella caerulea
Dianella caerulea, commonly known as Blue Flax Lily, is a hardy Australian native perennial with attractive blue-green, grass-like foliage. Widely used in Australian gardens and public landscaping, it is valued for its toughness, adaptability and ability to grow in areas where many other plants struggle.
In spring and summer, slender stems rise above the foliage carrying delicate blue to purple star-shaped flowers with prominent yellow stamens. These are followed by striking glossy blue to purple berries, providing interest well beyond the flowering season.
Plants gradually form dense clumps and are well suited to native gardens, borders, mass plantings and areas beneath established trees. Highly adaptable, Blue Flax Lily grows in full sun to partial shade and tolerates a range of soil types, including relatively dry and shaded positions once established.
Approximately 25 seeds per packet
