Solanum lycopersicum
Feldners 36 is an Australian-bred bush tomato developed at Hawkesbury Agricultural College in New South Wales. It belongs to an important group of locally developed tomato varieties selected for reliable performance under Australian growing conditions.
As a determinate variety, Feldners 36 forms a compact bush and produces its crop over a more concentrated period than climbing tomatoes. This makes it well suited to home gardens where space is limited and to growers wanting a defined harvest rather than continuous vine growth.
The plants require little training, although light staking or support can be useful once they are carrying a heavy crop.
Seed count: approximately 250â400 seeds per gram.
Approximately 50 seeds per packet.

Sow approximately 5 mm deep into seed-raising mix or directly where conditions are warm. In cooler climates, seed can be started indoors approximately five weeks before transplanting after the last frost. Best soil temperature for germination is approximately 16â35°C.
Space plants approximately 40â60 cm apart with 60â150 cm between rows. Grow in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Bush plants require little training, although support may be useful under a heavy crop. Water at soil level where possible and avoid waterlogged conditions.
Not available for WA. Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety.
Solanum lycopersicum
Floralou is a vigorous tomato producing large, round red fruits reaching approximately 12 cm across. The substantial fruits have a classic slicing-tomato form, with plenty of flesh and a traditional tomato flavour suited to fresh eating.
Its generous size makes Floralou particularly good for thick slices in sandwiches and burgers, as well as salads, platters and general kitchen use. The large fruits develop best when plants are given consistent moisture and good nutrition throughout the growing season.
An indeterminate variety, Floralou continues growing, flowering and setting fruit over an extended period. The vigorous vines and large fruits require sturdy staking or trellising for support.
Seed count: approximately 250â400 seeds per gram. Approximately 40 seeds per packet.

Solanum lycopersicum
Flowerball is a compact Japanese tomato producing abundant small to medium-sized rosy-pink fruits in tight, decorative clusters. The attractive trusses give the variety its name, with masses of fruit forming almost bouquet-like displays on the plant.
The tomatoes are sweet and juicy with relatively mild acidity, making them particularly enjoyable eaten fresh from the plant or added to salads, platters and light cooked dishes. Heavy production combined with its compact growth makes Flowerball a useful choice for smaller gardens and containers.
A determinate variety, plants remain manageable in size and produce their crop without the continual vine growth of climbing tomatoes. Little training is required, although support can be useful once the branches become heavily laden with clustered fruit.
Seed count: approximately 250â400 seeds per gram.

Solanum lycopersicum
Garden Delight is a prolific cherry tomato producing bright red fruits approximately 20â40 mm across in long, attractive trusses. Exceptionally sweet and juicy, the fruits have earned the variety a strong reputation for flavour and it has performed particularly well in British tomato taste tests.
The small fruits are excellent eaten straight from the vine and are equally good in salads, lunchboxes, bruschetta or roasted whole. The first tomatoes begin ripening relatively early, followed by a long and productive harvest.
Plants are vigorous and indeterminate, continuing to flower and set their long trusses throughout the season. Regular picking encourages continued production, while sturdy staking or trellising helps support the heavily laden vines.
Seed count: approximately 250â400 seeds per gram. Approximately 40 seeds per packet.

German Johnson is a classic heirloom beefsteak tomato producing large, smooth-skinned fruits that ripen to a beautiful pink-red. The substantial tomatoes have thick, meaty flesh, relatively few seeds and a very mild, sweet flavour with low acidity.
Particularly good as a slicing tomato, German Johnson is excellent in sandwiches, burgers and salads, while its fleshy texture and low seed content also make it useful for preserving. The vigorous plants offer reasonable disease resistance and are known for dependable production.
An old American heirloom associated particularly with North Carolina and the southern Appalachian region, German Johnson is also recognised as one of the parent varieties used in the development of the famous Mortgage Lifter tomato.

Solanum lycopersicum
Gold Nugget is an early cherry tomato producing heavy clusters of small, bright golden-yellow fruits. The tomatoes have thin skins and a mild, sweet flavour, making them excellent for snacking, salads, lunchboxes and colourful fresh platters.
Developed by Dr Jim Baggett at Oregon State University and released in the 1980s, Gold Nugget was bred specifically for cooler climates and shorter growing seasons. Its ability to crop early and reliably in relatively mild summer conditions has helped make it a popular home garden variety well beyond the Pacific Northwest.
The compact determinate plants have a tidy growth habit and are well suited to pots, smaller gardens and limited spaces. Despite their modest size, plants can carry an impressive crop and may benefit from light support when heavily laden with fruit.
Seed count: approximately 250â400 seeds per gram. Approximately 40 seeds per packet.

Solanum lycopersicum
Golden Gourmet Filler is an unusual stuffing tomato producing large, golden-yellow fruits approximately 8â10 cm across. The fruits develop thick, firm outer walls surrounding a relatively hollow centre, giving them a structure more reminiscent of a capsicum than a typical juicy tomato.
Designed for filling, the fruits can be hollowed out and stuffed with breadcrumbs, cottage cheese, grains, herbs, vegetables or other savoury fillings before baking. Their firm walls hold their shape well during cooking, while the golden skin makes an attractive alternative to traditional red stuffing tomatoes.
Plants are vigorous and indeterminate, continuing to flower and set fruit throughout the season. Provide sturdy staking or trellising to support the vines and developing fruits.

Solanum lycopersicum
Green Zebra is a distinctive tomato producing smooth, round fruits approximately 5â7 cm across. The fruit ripens to yellow-green with striking deep green stripes, while the flesh has a creamy texture and a mild, pleasantly tangy flavour.
Developed by American tomato breeder Tom Wagner and introduced in 1983, Green Zebra was created by crossing and selecting from several green tomato lines. Although relatively modern compared with traditional heirlooms, it has become a favourite among seed savers and home gardeners for its unusual appearance, excellent flavour and heavy production.
The vigorous indeterminate vines bear generously over the season. Ripe fruit develops a warmer yellow-green background while retaining its characteristic darker striping and will give slightly when gently pressed.

Solanum lycopersicum
Ice is an unusual Italian tomato producing pale, almost white fruits in clusters along vigorous climbing vines. As the tomatoes fully ripen they develop a soft yellow colour, signalling the point at which their flavour becomes particularly sweet.
An early-ripening variety, Ice begins producing relatively quickly and continues flowering and setting fruit over a long season, right through until frost in suitable climates. The sweet, delicately coloured fruits are excellent for fresh eating, salads and platters, particularly alongside red, green and darker tomato varieties.
Plants are indeterminate and continue growing throughout the season, so sturdy staking or trellising is recommended. Allow the fruit to develop its yellow cast before harvesting for the sweetest flavour.
