Agrimonia eupatoria

Agrimony is a graceful perennial herb with a long history in cottage gardens, traditional herbal practice and natural dyeing. Slender flowering spikes rise to around 60 cm, carrying clusters of small golden-yellow blooms through the warmer months that are highly attractive to bees and other beneficial insects. The deeply toothed foliage forms an attractive basal rosette, while the aerial parts of the plant have traditionally been used to produce soft, warm yellow dyes for wool and linen. Hardy and adaptable, agrimony thrives in full sun to part shade and well-drained soil, rewarding gardeners with years of reliable growth once established.

Approximately 1,500–2,000 seeds per gram
Approximately 12 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: April to July
Subtropics: March to August
Mild climates: September to November or March to May
Cold climates: Late spring to early summer after frost

Planting / Sowing

Sow seed on the surface of a fine, well-drained seed-raising mix or cover only lightly, as light aids germination. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged until seedlings emerge. Transplant into a sunny or partly shaded position with well-drained soil, spacing plants 30–45 cm apart. In warm regions, sow in early spring, while in cooler areas wait until late spring. Once established, agrimony is drought tolerant and requires little maintenance.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
