Beta vulgaris

Golden Beetroot is a distinctive heirloom variety producing smooth golden-yellow roots with exceptional sweetness and tenderness. Unlike many beetroot varieties, the roots remain mild and succulent even as they mature, with little tendency to become fibrous or woody. Their bright golden flesh adds colour and variety to the kitchen while offering the same versatility as traditional red beetroot.

One of the greatest advantages of Golden Beetroot is that it does not stain when handled or prepared, making it a popular choice for salads, roasting, pickling and cooking. The attractive leafy tops are also highly productive and can be harvested young as baby salad greens or cooked like spinach, where their excellent flavour truly shines.

Fast growing and reliable, Golden Beetroot provides multiple harvests from a single planting. The tender leaves can be picked early while the roots develop, with mature roots ready in approximately 55 days.

Planting / Sowing

For baby leaf production, sow seed densely in trays, boxes or garden beds and harvest leaves when they reach 8–15 cm tall. For mature roots, sow seed directly into prepared soil 10–15 mm deep and thin seedlings to 10 cm apart. Beetroot performs best when direct sown and prefers not to have its roots disturbed.

Grow in full sun to partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost. Maintain consistent moisture throughout the growing period for the best quality roots and foliage. Harvest roots at approximately 55 days from sowing, or earlier as tender baby beets.

Baby Leaf and Microgreens offer a simple and nutritious way to add fresh homegrown greens, vitamins and minerals to your daily diet.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
