Beta vulgaris

White Beetroot is a unique heirloom variety producing smooth, creamy-white roots with a mild, sweet flavour and crisp texture. Unlike traditional red beetroot, it contains no red pigments, making it an excellent choice for cooking alongside other vegetables without staining them.

The roots are tender and versatile, suitable for roasting, steaming, boiling or grating fresh into salads. The thin skin is edible and does not require peeling, making preparation quick and easy. Its subtle flavour appeals even to those who find traditional beetroot too earthy or strong.

The attractive green tops can also be harvested and used as a nutritious leafy vegetable, either fresh in salads when young or cooked like silverbeet. White Beetroot is easy to grow, productive and offers a striking alternative to more common beetroot varieties.

Planting / Sowing

For baby leaf production, sow seed densely in trays, boxes or garden beds and harvest leaves when they reach 8–15 cm tall. For mature roots, sow seed directly into prepared soil 10–15 mm deep and thin seedlings to 10 cm apart.

Grow in full sun to partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost. Keep soil consistently moist during growth to encourage tender, evenly developed roots. Harvest roots when young for the sweetest flavour or allow them to mature fully in approximately 60 days.

Baby Leaf and Microgreens offer a simple and nutritious way to add fresh homegrown greens, vitamins and minerals to your daily diet.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
