Nantes is a classic French heirloom dating from the 1880s and named after the city of Nantes. It produces bright orange, nearly coreless, cylindrical roots up to 17 cm long with smooth skin and rounded tips. Renowned for its exceptional sweetness, crisp texture, and excellent flavour, Nantes is ideal for fresh eating, salads, soups, juicing, baking, and cooking. Young roots are especially tender, while mature carrots store well when kept away from fruit. For best results in Australia, sow during the cooler months. Matures in around 70 days.
