Impatiens balsamina

Camellia Flowered Mix is a colourful, old-fashioned Balsam producing large, double flowers resembling miniature camellias. Blooms appear in a rich mixture of violet, scarlet, rose and white on upright, bushy plants reaching approximately 45 cm tall.

A lovely choice for cottage gardens, borders, containers and partially shaded garden beds, the densely petalled flowers are carried amongst lush green foliage and provide abundant colour throughout the warmer months. Plants are compact and easy to grow, making them useful for filling gaps in garden beds or creating colourful mass plantings.

Impatiens prefers fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture and performs well in full sun in cooler conditions or partial shade in warmer climates. Protect from frost and hot, drying conditions.

Seed count: approximately 100 seeds/g
Approximately 150 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Spring to autumn
Subtropics: Spring to summer
Mild climates: Spring to summer
Cold climates: Late spring after frost

Planting / Sowing

Sow into trays or pots, covering seed lightly with seed-raising mix. Keep warm and consistently moist during germination but avoid waterlogging.

Transplant once seedlings are established, spacing approximately 20–30 cm apart. Choose a sheltered position with good soil moisture and some afternoon shade in hotter climates.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
