Lathyrus odoratus

Bijou Mixed is a charming dwarf Sweetpea producing masses of beautifully fragrant flowers in a cheerful mixture of colours. Growing as a compact, bushy plant to approximately 45 cm tall, it provides all the colour and perfume of traditional Sweetpeas without requiring the tall climbing supports of larger varieties.

Prolific and wonderfully fragrant, Bijou Mixed is ideal for borders, edging, containers and smaller gardens. The flowers can also be picked for small posies and arrangements, with regular harvesting encouraging plants to continue producing blooms.

Sweetpeas thrive in cool growing conditions and perform best in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil. Keep plants regularly watered during active growth and flowering, and remove spent blooms before seed pods develop to prolong the display.

Seed count: approximately 10 seeds/g
Approximately 50 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Autumn to winter in cooler locations
Subtropics: Autumn to winter
Mild climates: Autumn to early winter
Cold climates: Autumn or early spring

Planting / Sowing

Sow directly where plants are to grow, approximately 2–3 cm deep. Alternatively, raise in individual pots or cells and transplant carefully while young. Keep soil consistently moist during germination.

Space plants approximately 15–20 cm apart in full sun and well-drained soil. Regularly pick flowers and remove developing seed pods to encourage continued blooming.

Sweetpea seeds and other parts of the plant are not edible and should not be confused with edible garden peas.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
