Ocimum basilicum

A classic Thai basil with dark green leaves and striking deep red to purple flower shoots. Valued for its spicy, anise flavoured aroma, ‘Siam Queen’ is widely used fresh in Thai and other Asian style curries, stir fries, and noodle soups. Plants are vigorous and productive in warm conditions and also make an attractive ornamental herb when in flower.

Approximately 25 seeds per packet
Seed count: 1000 seeds per gram

When to Plant (Australia)
Tropics: year round
Subtropics: September to April
Mild climates: October to March
Cold climates: late spring to early autumn

Planting / Sowing
Sow seed shallowly into well drained soil in a warm, sunny position. In frost free areas, sow at any time of year. In cooler climates, sow from spring through to autumn once frost risk has passed. Keep soil evenly moist during germination. Space plants 30 to 40 cm apart. Regular harvesting encourages bushy growth and prolongs leaf production.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
