Brassica rapa subsp. nipposinica

Tendergreen Mustard is a popular Asian leafy green producing upright plants with glossy dark green leaves and a crisp, succulent texture. Renowned for its pleasant pungent flavour, it offers a milder taste than many traditional mustards while still providing a distinctive peppery character that enhances a wide range of dishes.

Fast growing and highly productive, Tendergreen can be harvested young for salads and mixed greens or allowed to mature for use in stir-fries, soups, steamed dishes and other cooked meals. The tender leaves remain succulent and flavoursome, making this variety a favourite among home gardeners and market growers alike.

Its vigorous growth, attractive foliage and versatility in the kitchen have made Tendergreen one of the most widely grown mustard greens throughout Asia and beyond.

When to Plant (Australia)

Microgreens & Baby Leaf Production: Year round Australia-wide

Tropics: April to August
Subtropics: March to September
Mild climates: February to October
Cold climates: Spring, autumn and winter

Planting / Sowing

Sow seed 5 mm deep directly into prepared garden beds, containers or seedling trays. For baby leaf production, sow densely and harvest young leaves as required. For mature plants, thin seedlings to 20–30 cm apart.

Grow in full sun to partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost. Keep soil consistently moist and harvest leaves regularly to encourage fresh growth. Plants reach maturity in approximately 40 days but can be harvested much earlier as baby greens.

Baby Leaf and Microgreens offer a simple and nutritious way to add fresh homegrown greens, vitamins and minerals to your daily diet.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
