Brassica rapa var. pekinensis

Red Bok Choi is a striking Asian green producing deep green leaves highlighted with a rich maroon blush. Harvested as baby leaves or microgreens, it offers a mild, tender flavour and attractive colouring that brings both visual appeal and freshness to a wide range of dishes.

The young leaves are crisp and succulent, making them ideal for salads, sandwiches and mixed baby leaf blends. They are equally delicious added to curries, stir-fries, spring rolls and other Asian-inspired dishes, where their mild flavour complements a variety of ingredients without overpowering them.

Fast growing and easy to cultivate, Red Bok Choi produces reliable harvests throughout the year. Its vibrant colour, excellent flavour and versatility have made it a favourite among home gardeners, market growers and microgreen producers.

Planting / Sowing

For baby leaf production, sow seed thinly into prepared garden beds, containers or trays and harvest young leaves when they reach the desired size. For microgreens, sow seed densely over a moist growing medium and lightly press into the surface.

Keep evenly moist throughout germination and growth. Position in a bright location with good airflow and harvest microgreens when the cotyledons are fully developed or the first true leaves begin to emerge, typically 7–14 days after sowing.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
