Ocimum sanctum
A revered basil with green leaves and prolific white to pale purple flower spikes, Rama Tulsi has a distinctive musky, slightly mint scented aroma. Traditionally grown in homes, gardens, and near temples across India, it has long been regarded as a tonic herb, particularly associated with supporting digestion, the immune system, and the nervous system. Leaves can be used fresh in salads or added sparingly to pesto. An annual to short lived perennial in warm climates, it is grown primarily for medicinal and cultural use as well as its ornamental and aromatic qualities.

Approximately 240 seeds per packet
Seed count: approximately 2600 seeds per gram

When to Plant (Australia)
Tropics: March to August
Subtropics: September to March

Planting / Sowing
Sow seed shallowly onto well drained soil in a warm, sunny position and press in lightly, as light aids germination. Keep soil evenly moist during germination. Space plants 30 to 40 cm apart. Suitable for garden beds or pots, including indoor growing in bright light. Regular tip pruning encourages bushy growth and ongoing leaf production.

Planting/sowing: Sow in well-drained soil. In warm areas, plant in early spring. In cool areas, wait until late spring. Space appropriately for variety.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
