Ocimum basilicum

Purple Basil Microgreens produce vibrant purple stems and richly coloured leaves with the distinctive sweet, aromatic flavour of traditional basil. These striking microgreens add colour, fragrance and flavour to salads, sandwiches, pizzas, pasta dishes and gourmet garnishes.

Harvested young, Purple Basil microgreens deliver an intense basil flavour in a compact form, making them a favourite among chefs, home cooks and microgreen growers. Their deep colouring and attractive appearance make them particularly popular for decorative culinary applications.

Slow to germinate compared to many microgreens, basil rewards patience with dense crops of highly aromatic shoots. Best grown in warm conditions, Purple Basil produces tender stems and cotyledons that are both beautiful and flavourful.

Planting / Sowing

For microgreens, sow seed densely over a moist growing medium and lightly press into the surface. Do not cover heavily, as basil requires light for optimal germination. Keep evenly moist and maintain warm temperatures between 20–25°C.

Harvest with scissors once the first true leaves begin to emerge, usually 15–25 days after sowing. Regular moisture and good airflow will help produce healthy, vibrant crops.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
