Phaseolus vulgaris

Phaseolus vulgaris

A sweet, tender, stringless golden butter bean with a memorable name and genuine eating quality. This old Australian heirloom was taken from an early seed catalogue that described it as “sensuous and tender, the golden curves of this dwarf butter wax bean are available to all with no strings attached”. Plants form small, compact bushes that produce early and heavily. Pods are excellent fresh and also well suited to freezing.

Approximately 10 seeds per packet
Seed count: 2–4 per gram

When to Plant (Australia)
Tropics: March to August
Subtropics: August to March
Mild climates: Spring to summer
Cold climates: Late spring after frost has passed

Planting / Sowing
Sow seed directly into warm, well drained soil in full sun once soil has warmed. Space seeds 10 to 15 cm apart. Keep soil evenly moist during establishment. Pick regularly from around 50 days to encourage continued production.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
