Daucus carota

A colourful mix of carrots producing roots in shades of orange, red, white and yellow, with purple varieties included when available. This vibrant blend brings variety to the vegetable garden and plenty of colour to the kitchen, with each harvest offering a different combination of colours, flavours and textures.

Enjoy young carrots fresh and crunchy, grate them into salads and slaws, or allow roots to mature for roasting, steaming, soups and everyday cooking. The different colours look particularly impressive harvested together and make this an excellent choice for gardeners wanting something beyond the traditional orange carrot.

As this is a mixed selection, the proportion and varieties of each colour may vary according to seasonal seed availability.

Approximately 400 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Autumn to winter
Subtropics: Late summer to winter
Mild climates: Spring and autumn
Cold climates: Early spring to summer

Planting / Sowing

Sow directly into loose, finely prepared soil free from stones and large clumps. Carrots do not transplant well, so sow where they are to grow. Sow approximately 5–10 mm deep and thin seedlings to 2–4 cm apart once established.

Keep the soil consistently moist during germination and avoid allowing the surface to dry out. Deep, loose soil encourages long, straight roots, while overly rich or freshly manured soil can cause roots to fork.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
