Lactuca sativa

Lollo Rosso Darkness is a striking looseleaf lettuce with deeply curled, richly textured leaves in deep magenta, fading to a light green base. Darker in colour than standard Lollo Rosso, this compact variety adds outstanding colour and texture to salads, garden beds, and edible borders. Ideal as a cut-and-come-again lettuce, it can be harvested as tender baby leaves from around 30 days or allowed to reach full size in approximately 50 days.

Planting / Sowing
Sow seed directly or raise seedlings, covering very lightly with 2–3 mm of soil. Plant in fertile, well drained soil in full sun or part shade, spacing plants 20–30 cm apart. Keep the soil evenly moist and provide afternoon shade during warmer weather. Harvest outer leaves regularly for a continuous supply or allow plants to fully develop before cutting.
