Helianthus annuus

Moonwalker is a striking heirloom sunflower that brings elegance and height to the summer garden. Growing an impressive 2.5–3 metres tall, this graceful, multi-branching variety produces an abundance of creamy lemon-yellow flowers surrounding rich chocolate-brown centres. The sturdy stems and multiple blooms make it an outstanding cut flower, while its nectar-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators. Perfect for borders, living screens or sunflower tunnels, Moonwalker is an easy-to-grow, heat-tolerant variety that creates a spectacular display throughout the season.

Approximately 15–20 seeds per gram
Approximately 15 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: April to August (dry season)
Subtropics: August to January
Mild climates: September to January
Cold climates: Spring to early summer

Planting / Sowing

Direct sow seed 20–25 mm deep into fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny position after the danger of frost has passed. Space plants 45–60 cm apart to allow their branching habit to develop. Water regularly during establishment and during prolonged dry periods. Flowers begin appearing from around 75–90 days, with the branching plants continuing to produce blooms over an extended flowering period.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
