Dianthus caryophyllus

A delightful dwarf carnation producing a wide range of colourful blooms with the rich, spicy fragrance that has made carnations a garden favourite for generations. Compact and upright in habit, plants grow to approximately 35cm tall on sturdy stems, making them ideal for flower beds, borders, containers and smaller cutting gardens.

The flowers appear in a beautiful mix of colours and begin blooming earlier than many standard carnation varieties. Their strong fragrance attracts pollinators and adds a wonderful sensory element to the garden, while the firm stems make them suitable for cutting and floral arrangements. Dwarf Fragrance Mix performs best through the cooler seasons and may decline during periods of intense summer heat.

Approximately 65 seeds per packet

500 seeds/gram

Planting / Sowing
Sow seed onto the surface of a quality seed raising mix and lightly cover with a fine layer of soil or vermiculite. Keep moist but not waterlogged during germination. Position in a bright location and transplant seedlings once large enough to handle. Plant in full sun and well-drained soil, spacing plants approximately 20–25cm apart. Regular deadheading will encourage continued flowering. Best performance occurs during the cooler months of the year. Approximately 14–18 weeks to flowering.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
