Consolida ajacis

Giant Imperial Mix is a tall, elegant annual Larkspur producing long flower spikes in a beautiful mixture of pink, red, pale blue and deep blue. Growing to approximately 1 m tall, the upright stems provide height and colour through cottage gardens, borders and cutting gardens.

An excellent cut flower, Giant Imperial produces long, graceful stems that work beautifully in fresh bouquets and floral arrangements. The flowers can also be dried for everlasting arrangements. Plants perform best during cooler weather and tend to decline once summer temperatures become consistently hot.

Larkspur prefers a cool, well-drained position in full sun to light shade and is particularly effective when planted in groups towards the middle or back of garden beds.

Seed count: approximately 380 seeds/g
Approximately 80 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Autumn to winter
Subtropics: Autumn to winter
Mild climates: Autumn and spring
Cold climates: Spring or autumn

Planting / Sowing

Sow directly where plants are to grow, as Larkspur develops a taproot and generally performs best with minimal root disturbance. Cover seed lightly and keep the soil moist during germination.

Thin seedlings to approximately 20–30 cm apart. In warmer regions, choose a position with some protection from afternoon heat. Taller plants may benefit from support in exposed or windy locations.

Larkspur is toxic if ingested. Take care when growing around children and pets and do not use any part of the plant for culinary purposes.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
