Lobelia erinus

Colour Cascade Mixed is a beautiful trailing Lobelia producing masses of delicate flowers in shades of rich blue, violet and purple against fresh green foliage. Growing and trailing to approximately 30 cm, the cascading habit creates a soft spill of colour over the edges of pots and baskets.

Particularly well suited to hanging baskets, window boxes and containers, Colour Cascade can also be used along raised beds, rockeries and garden edges. The small flowers are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects and provide colour over a long flowering period in suitable conditions.

Lobelia prefers cooler growing conditions with consistent moisture and performs well in full sun to partial shade. In warmer climates, some protection from hot afternoon sun will help prolong flowering.

Seed count: approximately 30,000 seeds/g
Approximately 3,000 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Autumn to winter
Subtropics: Autumn to spring
Mild climates: Autumn and spring
Cold climates: Spring to early summer

Planting / Sowing

Sow the extremely fine seed onto the surface of moist seed-raising mix and press gently into place. Do not cover deeply, as light assists germination. Keep consistently moist, using a fine mist to avoid disturbing the seed.

Transplant small clumps of seedlings once established. Grow in full sun to partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil or good-quality potting mix, keeping plants regularly watered during flowering.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
