Nemophila menziesii

Baby Blue Eyes is a charming low-growing annual producing masses of delicate, clear sky-blue flowers with soft white centres. Native to western North America, it forms a gently spreading carpet of fine green foliage and flowers beautifully through the cooler months.

Ideal for borders, edging, containers, rockeries, cottage gardens and wildflower-style plantings, Baby Blue Eyes is particularly effective when planted in groups or allowed to weave between other low-growing flowers. The open blooms are also attractive to bees and other pollinating insects.

Nemophila prefers mild to cool conditions and performs best in full sun to partial shade with moist, well-drained soil. In warmer climates, some protection from afternoon sun can help extend the flowering period.

Seed count: approximately 500 seeds/g
Approximately 600 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Autumn to winter
Subtropics: Autumn to winter

Planting / Sowing

Sow directly where plants are to grow, covering seed lightly with soil. Keep consistently moist during germination and establishment.

Thin seedlings to approximately 10–15 cm apart. Grow in full sun in cooler areas or partial shade where conditions are warmer, and maintain regular moisture throughout flowering.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
