Papaver nudicaule

Artist’s Glory, also known as Victory Giants, is a beautiful Iceland Poppy producing large, crepe-textured flowers held gracefully above the foliage on slender, leafless stems reaching approximately 60 cm. The mixture offers a luminous range of colours including brilliant orange, buttery yellow, coral, white and soft pink.

A wonderful cool-season flower, Iceland Poppies bring vivid colour to cottage gardens, borders and cutting gardens from winter into spring. The delicate-looking blooms are excellent for floral arrangements, while flowers left in the garden are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects.

Usually grown as a cool-season annual or short-lived perennial, plants prefer full sun, cool conditions and free-draining soil. They dislike prolonged heat and humidity and generally perform best when established during the cooler months.

Seed count: approximately 7,500 seeds/g
Approximately 3,000 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Autumn to winter in cooler locations
Subtropics: Autumn to winter
Mild climates: Autumn to late winter
Cold climates: Late winter to spring, or autumn where established plants can overwinter

Planting / Sowing

Sow directly where plants are to grow, as Poppies dislike root disturbance. Scatter the very fine seed over prepared soil and press gently onto the surface. Cover only very lightly, if at all, and keep consistently moist during germination.

Thin seedlings carefully to approximately 20–30 cm apart. Grow in full sun with excellent drainage and avoid disturbing the roots once plants are established.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
