Leucanthemum × superbum

Shasta Daisy is a classic hardy perennial producing masses of large, pure white daisy flowers with bright golden-yellow centres. Growing into a bushy clump approximately 60 cm tall, the cheerful blooms create a fresh, timeless display through cottage gardens, perennial borders and cutting gardens.

An excellent cut flower, Shasta Daisy produces strong stems and long-lasting blooms that are also attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects. Plants are frost hardy and, once well established, have good tolerance to periods of dry weather.

Easy to grow and long lived in suitable conditions, plants perform best in full sun with rich, moist but well-drained soil. Regular deadheading encourages continued flowering and helps keep plants tidy throughout the season.

Seed count: approximately 650 seeds/g
Approximately 500 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Autumn to winter in cooler locations
Subtropics: Autumn to spring
Mild climates: Autumn and spring
Cold climates: Spring after frost

Planting / Sowing

Sow directly or raise in trays, covering seed only lightly with soil or seed-raising mix. Keep moist during germination and establishment.

Transplant or thin seedlings to approximately 30–45 cm apart in full sun and rich, well-drained soil. In frost-prone areas, sow after the danger of severe frost has passed. Deadhead regularly to encourage further flowering.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
