Lathyrus odoratus

Sweet Pea ‘Ripple’ produces beautifully ruffled blooms with softly rippled petals in a mix of shades including pink, lavender, cream and soft blue tones. The flowers are lightly fragrant and carried on climbing vines that readily scramble up trellises, fences or garden supports. A classic cottage garden favourite, sweet peas are grown for their elegant flowers and nostalgic perfume. Plants grow vigorously in cool conditions and reward regular picking with continued blooms through the season. Ideal for cut flowers, the long stems and soft colouring make them perfect for bouquets. Best sown in autumn or late winter in well-drained soil in a sunny position. Provide support for climbing and pick flowers regularly to encourage ongoing flowering.

Seed count: approximately 10 seeds/g
Approximately 20 seeds per packet

Planting / Sowing

Sow directly where plants are to grow, approximately 2–3 cm deep. Alternatively, raise in individual pots or cells and transplant carefully while young. Keep soil consistently moist during germination.

Space plants approximately 15–20 cm apart and provide a sturdy trellis, fence or other support for climbing. Pinch out growing tips while plants are young to encourage bushier growth and additional flowering stems. Regularly pick flowers and remove developing seed pods to prolong flowering.

Sweetpea seeds and other parts of the plant are not edible and should not be confused with edible garden peas.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
