Fagopyrum esculentum

Buckwheat is an ancient grain-like seed from the Polygonaceae family, cultivated for over 8,000 years throughout Europe and Asia. Fast growing and highly versatile, it can be grown for its nutritious edible seeds or as an outstanding green manure and cover crop. Its long taproot helps draw nutrients from deep within the soil profile, returning them to the surface as the plants break down. Buckwheat produces abundant biomass, suppresses weeds, and is particularly valuable between vegetable crops. The masses of delicate white flowers are highly attractive to bees and other beneficial insects, making it an excellent addition to productive gardens.

Approximately 2,000 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Planting / Sowing
