Coriandrum sativum

Cilantro is a fast-growing annual herb grown primarily for its fresh, aromatic leaves, which are an essential ingredient in Chinese, Latin American, Indian and Southeast Asian cuisines. The bright, citrusy foliage is perfect for salads, salsas, curries, soups and garnishes, while the mature seeds can also be harvested and used as the familiar spice coriander. This variety is best suited to leaf production and is quick to provide a continuous harvest during the cooler months.

Approximately 90–110 seeds per gram
Approximately 75 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: April to August
Subtropics: March to September
Mild climates: March to October
Cold climates: September to December and February to April

Planting / Sowing

Direct sow seed 10–15 mm deep into fertile, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Cilantro develops a taproot and is best sown where it is to grow. Keep the soil consistently moist and sow successive crops every 2–3 weeks for a continuous supply of fresh leaves. Harvest leaves from around 30 days, or allow plants to mature for approximately 70 days to collect the aromatic seeds.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
