Pisum sativum

Pea Shoots are one of the most rewarding and delicious microgreens to grow, producing crisp, succulent stems, tender leaves and delicate curling tendrils with a wonderfully fresh, sweet pea flavour. Their substantial size and satisfying crunch make them equally at home in everyday salads and restaurant-style garnishes.

Harvest the young shoots for salads, sandwiches, wraps and stir-fries, scatter them over soups and savoury dishes, or simply eat them fresh straight from the tray. The shoots are mild, sweet and juicy, making them an excellent choice for children and those new to growing microgreens.

Fast growing and highly productive, peas are particularly well suited to tray growing and can often produce a second, smaller harvest when cut above the lowest leaf nodes. They are an excellent choice for beginners and provide a generous crop from a relatively small growing area.

Approximately 4–5 seeds per gram

Planting / Sowing

For pea shoots, soak seed in water for 8–12 hours before sowing. Drain well, then sow densely over a moist growing medium and cover with approximately 1–2 cm of mix. Keep moist but not waterlogged during germination.

Once shoots emerge, provide plenty of bright light and good airflow. Harvest with scissors when shoots reach approximately 8–15 cm tall and have developed tender leaves and tendrils, usually around 10–14 days after sowing. Cut above the lowest nodes if attempting a second harvest.

Due to quarantine restrictions, WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
