Tropaeolum majus

Whirlybird Mix is a compact, non-trailing Nasturtium producing masses of brightly coloured flowers held prominently above the foliage. The cheerful mixture includes warm shades of yellow, gold, orange, red and cream, creating a vibrant display throughout the warmer months.

Unlike trailing Nasturtiums, Whirlybird forms a neat, bushy plant, making it particularly well suited to borders, edging, containers and productive garden beds. The flowers attract bees and other pollinating insects, while the rounded foliage provides an attractive backdrop to the colourful blooms.

Both the flowers and leaves are edible, with a distinctive peppery flavour. Flowers make a colourful garnish for salads and savoury dishes, while young leaves can be added to salads or used much like other peppery greens.

Easy to grow and quick to flower, Nasturtiums perform best in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Avoid excessive fertiliser, particularly nitrogen, which can encourage abundant foliage at the expense of flowers.

Seed count: approximately 8 seeds/g
Approximately 16 seeds per packet

Planting / Sowing

Thin seedlings to approximately 20–30 cm apart. Grow in full sun to partial shade and water regularly during dry conditions without keeping the soil constantly wet.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
