Raphanus sativus

Sango Radish is a striking microgreen and baby leaf variety prized for its exceptionally deep purple-burgundy foliage and contrasting reddish-white stems. One of the darkest of the red radish varieties, it brings intense colour and visual impact to microgreen mixes, salads and gourmet garnishes.

The young shoots have the characteristic peppery radish flavour, delivering a fresh, spicy bite alongside their crisp, succulent texture. They are excellent in salads, sandwiches, wraps and burgers or scattered over soups, eggs and savoury dishes just before serving.

Fast growing and easy to cultivate, Sango is particularly popular with microgreen growers for its combination of rich colour, strong flavour and rapid development. The dramatic burgundy colouring intensifies with good light, producing an exceptionally attractive crop.

Planting / Sowing

For microgreens, sow seed densely over a moist growing medium and lightly cover or press firmly into the surface. Keep evenly moist during germination, then provide plenty of bright light to encourage strong growth and rich purple colouring.

Harvest with scissors when the cotyledons are fully developed or as the first true leaves begin to emerge, generally around 7–12 days after sowing. For baby leaf production, sow more thinly and allow plants to develop larger leaves before harvesting.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
