Butterfly Mix is a colourful blend of flowering plants selected to provide nectar and encourage butterflies into the garden. With a diverse combination of flower shapes, colours and heights, the mix creates an attractive feeding ground while helping support pollination and greater biodiversity.

Perfect for garden beds, borders, cottage gardens or dedicated pollinator patches, the mixture provides a succession of blooms for butterflies to visit throughout the flowering season. Allowing plants to flower freely creates a valuable garden habitat while bringing plenty of movement and colour to the landscape.

The mixture may include Ageratum, Celosia, Cosmos, Aster, Strawflower, Globe Amaranth, Lavender, African Marigold, Dwarf French Marigold, Snapdragon, Verbena and Zinnia, subject to seasonal availability.

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Autumn to early spring
Subtropics: Spring and autumn
Mild climates: Spring
Cold climates: Late spring after frost

Planting / Sowing

Sow into well-drained, prepared soil in a sunny position. Scatter seed thinly and lightly rake or press into the soil surface. As the mixture contains species with different seed sizes and requirements, avoid covering too deeply.

Keep consistently moist during germination. Once established, allow sufficient room for plants to develop naturally. Individual varieties will germinate and flower at different times, providing an evolving display and extended opportunities for visiting butterflies.

Avoid using broad-spectrum insecticides around the planting, particularly while plants are flowering.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
