Rhagodia baccata

Syn. Chenopodium baccatum

A hardy Australian native shrub valued for both its ornamental appeal and edible fruit. Berry Saltbush, also known as Seaberry Saltbush, forms a low-growing, spreading shrub with fleshy pale green leaves, cream-coloured flowers and distinctive diamond-shaped pink to red berries with a pleasantly salty-sweet flavour. Naturally found across parts of Australia, it is highly tolerant of coastal conditions, drought, wind and poor soils. An important species for dune and slope rehabilitation and a valuable food source for birds and other wildlife.

Approximately 120 seeds per packet

Seed count: 150/g.

When to Plant (Australia)
Tropics: March to September
Subtropics: March to October
Mild climates: Spring and autumn
Cold climates: Spring after frost has passed

Planting / Sowing
Sow seed into a well-drained seed raising mix or directly into prepared soil. Lightly cover seed and keep moist during germination. Position in full sun to part shade. Once established, plants are highly tolerant of drought, coastal exposure, alkaline soils, granite and sandy conditions. Space plants appropriately to allow for their spreading growth habit.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
