Passiflora edulis

A vigorous evergreen perennial vine producing large, oval-shaped fruit with smooth golden-yellow skin and intensely flavoured aromatic pulp. Panama Gold is renowned for its excellent fruit size, productivity and rich tropical flavour. The fruit is delicious eaten fresh straight from the shell or used in desserts, drinks, sauces, preserves and baking. Rich in vitamins A and C, passionfruit is a rewarding addition to home gardens and edible landscapes.

Plants produce attractive, intricate flowers that attract pollinators and can fruit heavily under favourable conditions. Passionfruit appreciates fertile, well-drained soil, regular watering and generous mulching, particularly during flowering and fruit development. Frost tender when young, vines benefit from a warm, sunny position and sturdy support structure.

Approximately 7 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)
Tropics: Year round
Subtropics: Spring to autumn
Mild climates: Spring and summer
Cold climates: Late spring to early summer after frost has passed

Planting / Sowing
Germination can be variable and patience is often rewarded. Scarify seed lightly between sheets of sandpaper and soak overnight before sowing. Plant approximately 1.5cm deep into trays or pots filled with a quality seed raising mix. Keep warm and consistently moist during germination. Transplant seedlings once established, spacing plants 3–5 metres apart and providing a strong trellis, fence or support structure. Mulch well, maintain regular watering and prune after harvest to encourage vigorous new growth and future fruiting.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
