A graceful Australian native tree valued for its highly aromatic foliage and refreshing peppermint fragrance. The leaves are rich in essential oils and release a distinctive minty scent when crushed, making this species one of the traditional sources of eucalyptus oil. The oil is noted for its strong peppermint aroma and flavour and has long been used in a range of aromatic and household applications.
Peppermint Gum forms an attractive medium to large tree with narrow green foliage and clusters of creamy white flowers that attract bees and other pollinators. Hardy and adaptable, it performs well in a variety of climates and provides shade, habitat and year-round interest in larger gardens and landscapes.

Planting / Sowing
Sow seed onto the surface of a fine, free-draining seed raising mix and lightly press into the soil without covering deeply, as light assists germination. Keep consistently moist but not waterlogged and provide good airflow around seedlings. Position in a bright location with filtered light until germination occurs. Transplant carefully once seedlings are large enough to handle and plant into a sunny, well-drained position. Water regularly during establishment.
