Burgundy Okra is a striking heirloom variety producing deep red pods that add exceptional colour and interest to the vegetable garden. The richly coloured pods contrast beautifully against the green foliage, making this variety as ornamental as it is productive.
The tender red pods retain much of their attractive colour after cooking and processing, making them a standout choice for fresh use, pickling, preserving and traditional okra dishes. Plants are bushy, vigorous and typically reach around 1 metre in height, producing generous harvests throughout the warmer months.
Compared with many okra varieties, Burgundy shows good tolerance to cooler conditions, allowing gardeners in milder climates to enjoy successful crops over a longer season. Fast growing and reliable, it reaches harvest maturity in approximately 55–65 days.

Planting / Sowing
Sow seed 15–20 mm deep directly into warm, well-prepared soil once the danger of frost has passed. For improved germination, soak seed overnight before planting. Space plants 40–60 cm apart in rows 75–100 cm apart.
Grow in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost. Water regularly during establishment and harvest pods frequently while young and tender to encourage continued production. Plants will continue producing heavily throughout the growing season when picked regularly.
Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
